DAY 4

    01.14.21 | by Caleb Eaton

    Acts 14:23

“And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.”

Paul and Barnabas took their gospel-preaching and disciple-making work seriously. They covered a lot of ground and did a lot of preaching. As they were on their first missionary journey together they went about teaching and preaching the gospel and raising up church leaders from city to city. The above scripture in Acts gives us a sneak peak of what they did after identifying and establishing church leaders in the various cities they worked in. It says, “with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.”

The way they committed their disciples to the Lord was through prayer and fasting. Imagine if we did this in our context with the people God has given us influence over? Imagine if we prayed and fasted for our spouses, kids, co-workers and those we disciple and teach? This is what Jesus did for his 12 disciples. I believe we would see the power of God released in our leadership and life in a way we have never seen if we would fast and pray for the people God has given us.
