DAY 13

    01.23.21 | by Gary Closter

In the 1730s and 1740s the USA experienced something called the First Great Awakening. There was a heightened hunger for a relationship with Jesus. There was anointed preaching and people were spiritually moved. Personal sin was confessed and people knew their need for salvation.

In Chapters 2 and 3 of the Book of Revelation Jesus encourages and corrects the church He loves. In each letter there was a “calling back” with these words: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

The evidence of revival is changed lives. Believers spend more time in prayer, more time reading and obeying God’s Word. They also begin to powerfully use their spiritual gifts to advance the Kingdom of God.

Revival brings confession of sin and repentance. Revival helps restore that first love and passion for Christ. Revival helps us to find the truth which changes values. Revival can lift us up to new hope and faith. Revival helps to resuscitate spiritual life and it starts in the hearts of individuals, then proceeds to the church, the community and the world. Please join me in praying for an increased outpouring of the Holy Spirit that we may experience a changed world, one that glorifies our God.
