DAY 12

    Luke 4:42

“At day break, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them.”

If you are like me and have a busy schedule, you know what it's like to rush into the next appointment or next place to be. There are also times when others are demanding my time or requiring my attention all at once.  This can be frustrating as I’m sure you can relate.   There are many times in the Bible when Jesus is looking to get away. He is usually looking to retreat to a quiet place away from the crowds.  I cannot imagine what it was like for him, but even Jesus needed to be alone with His Father.  He says, be still, and know that I am God in Psalm 46:10.  What a strange concept, to be still.  I think about those of us who cannot sit still for 30 seconds, after all we must be on the move doing something.

Jesus found himself needing to be refreshed, needing to be energized, and in the Father’s presents.  It’s been said that it's impossible to give away what you don’t have.  So true, if I am depleted of spiritual insight, wisdom and joy, then how can I expect to share it.  On the other hand, if I take the time to be with my heavenly Father, meditate on His word, receive from the Lord His goodness, then I will be able to give.  I pray during this prayer and fasting time that you will find a solitary place to be still, and know that your heavenly Father wants to spend time with you.
